Is Exness Safe? Licences, Entities and Client Protection — cover image

Exness is a licensed broker, but how safe your money is depends on which Exness entity holds your account. Exness publishes several licences: Exness (SC) Ltd under the Seychelles FSA (licence SD025), Exness B.V. under the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (0003LSI), Exness (VG) Ltd under the BVI FSC (SIBA/L/20/1133), entities in Belize and Mauritius, and Exness (KE) Limited under Kenya's CMA (licence 162). Most international clients are served by an offshore entity, so there is no tier-1 compensation scheme. Exness is a member of the Financial Commission, whose fund covers only that body's rulings, up to €20,000 per client. Exness also appears on India's RBI Alert List.

What Protects Your Money

  • Segregated accounts: Exness says client funds are held in segregated accounts at several banks.
  • Financial Commission fund: pays only if a member refuses to follow a Financial Commission judgment, up to €20,000 per client. It doesn't cover trading losses or broker insolvency.
  • Account security: one-time-password withdrawals, PCI DSS certification and 3D Secure card payments, per Exness.
  • No statutory scheme comparable to the UK FSCS on the offshore entities.

Where Regulators Warn

  • India: Exness is on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms (checked 2026-10-01). See Is forex trading legal in India?.
  • Malaysia: the SC Investor Alert List flags clone channels using the Exness name ("Exness Malaysia / Trade FX", "Exness Trading").

How to Check Your Own Exness Account

  2. Search that entity on its regulator's register.

Is Exness regulated by the FCA or CySEC?

The global site lists no FCA or CySEC entity serving retail clients. Exness states that it doesn't serve UK or EU residents through these entities.

Is my money insured at Exness?

Not in the sense of a government scheme. The Financial Commission fund covers only unpaid Financial Commission judgments, up to €20,000 per client.
