Is VT Markets Safe? Licences, Warnings and Entities
Is VT Markets safe? Which VT Markets company actually holds your money, what the FSC Mauritius, FSCA and UAE licences cover, and the FCA, RBI and SC.

VT Markets is a licensed broker, but the licence that covers trading for most clients is offshore. Global accounts are held by VT Markets Limited, an FSC Mauritius investment dealer (licence GB23202269). The group's FSCA (South Africa) and UAE CMA licences cover intermediary and promotion work only, not trade execution. Regulators in the UK (FCA warning), India (RBI Alert List) and Malaysia (SC Investor Alert List, 2021) have flagged the brand. VT Markets also says it does not serve the US, Singapore, India, Hong Kong or Russia. Whether it is "safe enough" depends on where you live and how much offshore regulation you accept.
The Four VT Markets Companies
| Company | Licence / registration | What it is allowed to do |
|---|---|---|
| VT Markets Limited (Mauritius) | FSC Mauritius, Full-Service Investment Dealer, GB23202269 | Deals with clients. This is the trading counterparty for global accounts |
| VT Markets (Pty) Ltd (South Africa) | FSCA FSP No. 50865 | Intermediary only under the FAIS Act; product supplier is VT Markets Limited |
| VT Markets (Pty) Ltd – Dubai Branch | UAE CMA License 20200000299, Category 5 | Introduction and promotion only; not authorised for brokerage or trade execution |
| VTMarkets Ltd (Cyprus) | Company reg. HE436466 | Provides services for other licensed group entities; not a trading licence |
Older VT Markets pages also mention ASIC. That licence is not in the current global-site footer, so don't treat it as covering a vtmarkets.com account.

Regulator Warnings
- FCA (UK): the warning page "VT Markets /
www.vtmarkets.com" says the firm is not authorised and may be targeting UK residents. UK clients would have no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or FSCS. - RBI (India): vtmarkets.com is on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised forex trading platforms.
- SC Malaysia: "VT Markets" was added to the Investor Alert List on 26 August 2021.
- Singapore: VT Markets publishes its own notice saying it does not serve Singapore citizens or residents.
These warnings are country-specific. They say the brand is not licensed in that country. They do not say it is a scam elsewhere. If you live in one of these places, though, you would have no local protection.
What Offshore Regulation Means for You
FSC Mauritius supervision is real, but it is lighter than Tier-1 regulators. In particular:
- No UK FSCS, EU ICF or Australian-style compensation scheme covers a Mauritius account
- Leverage up to 500:1 is allowed, which magnifies losses as well as gains
- Disputes go to the broker first, then to the Mauritius regulator, not your local ombudsman
Watch Out for Impersonators
The FCA warning lists two websites under the VT Markets name: vtmarkets.com and tryvtmarkets.com. Other look-alike domains also appear in online review sites. Only fund an account through the domain on your signed account agreement or through the official app. Never send money to anyone who contacts you on Telegram or WhatsApp claiming to be VT Markets staff or an "account manager".
Safety Checklist Before Funding
