The MetaTrader 4 app is free on iPhone/iPad (App Store) and Android (Google Play). The official download links are on metatrader4.com. After installing, tap Settings → New account → Login to an existing account, search for your broker's server, and enter the account number and password your broker sent you. The app has interactive charts, the full set of order types, popular indicators, trade history, one-click trading, push notifications and chat. It cannot run Expert Advisors. For those you need the desktop version.
Official Download Sources
| Device | Where to get it |
|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | App Store, publisher MetaQuotes; or the iPhone link on metatrader4.com |
| Android | Google Play, publisher MetaQuotes; or the Android link on metatrader4.com |
| Android APK | Only from metatrader4.com or your broker's official download page |
About APK files: MetaQuotes and some brokers publish an APK for phones without Google Play. Never install an "MT4 APK" from Telegram, WhatsApp or a random download site. Cloned apps are a common way to steal trading passwords.

Log In on Mobile
- Open MT4 and go to Settings → New account.
- Choose Login to an existing account. (Open a demo account creates a practice account.)
- Type your broker's name and pick the exact server from your welcome email, e.g. "Broker-Live3".
- Enter your login (account number) and password, then tap Sign in.
- Check that the balance appears under Trade. If it says "Invalid account", the server or password is wrong. See MT4 login fixes.
What the App Can and Can't Do
| Can | Can't |
|---|---|
| Market and pending orders, SL/TP, one-click trading | Run Expert Advisors or scripts |
| Interactive charts and popular indicators | Strategy tester |
| Account monitoring and trade history | Custom indicators from desktop |
| Push notifications and chat | Some desktop chart tools |
MT4 App vs MT5 App
Both are free and work the same way. If your broker offers both, MT5 gives you more timeframes and instruments. Your MT4 login won't work in the MT5 app, because they are separate account types. See MT4 vs MT5.
